Welcome to Deception Bay North

I would like to extend to you a very warm welcome to our school. For some children this will not be their first school, but for those who are just starting school it is one of the most exciting experiences of their lives.

Education really begins at home. At our school we provide a formal and structured extension of these early childhood experiences. The first years of a child's life at school are of vital importance, and it is our aim to see that all children receive the best possible education in a supportive and caring environment.

Educationalists now believe that a school, if it is to play an effective role in the education of a child, can no longer be an isolated institution. In the teaching and training of a young child, it is our firm belief that a co-operative teacher/parent relationship is not only desirable but also essential. Indeed, because of the predominant influences of the home on the course of a child's development, education must become a three way communication process involving parents, teachers and children.

To help us in our aim, we ask for the friendly co-operation of parents to ensure a good home-school relationship. We urge parents to take an active interest in your school and in what your child is doing, and to offer encouragement so your child can achieve his/her best. You, as parents, can do this by getting to know the teachers and discussing with them your child's progress.

Parents should feel assured that teachers do their best to help all children under their charge. It is the development of a climate of understanding and co-operation between home and school, and a recognition that one cannot be fully successful without the other, that provides for a sound education.
