Why choose our school?

Deception Bay North State School has upto 600 students enrolled from Prep to Year 6.

We have a co-located C&K kindergarten on site and we offer an early childhood development program and a special education program to students with special needs.

Our purpose is to provide an educational experience for students that builds in them the confidence to achieve through ongoing ‘personal best’. The school curriculum is geared towards this through a focus on academic endeavours and by offering a balance between The Arts and Sports programs.

Our students come from a broad range of cultural and religious backgrounds, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and Pan Pacific Islander. Many of our students have a language other than English spoken at home and students are frequently proficient in the spoken form of that second language. This cultural mix provides richness to the school through an appreciation and celebration of diversity. Students have a high level of racial acceptance and demonstrate the valuing of other cultures.

The learning environment is enhanced by students engaging with digital technology and online learning experiences with wireless connectivity expanding across the school. All teaching areas have interactive whiteboards which enable online experiences to be integrated into all learning areas and two computer labs provide digital learning for whole class and/or individual instruction.

In 2009 Deception Bay North State School became a National Partnership school and this has enabled us to acquire additional staff to provide intensive support for all students in targeted areas of literacy and numeracy. Multi-age enrichment classes in each year level provide specialised support for highly able students. All teachers and support staff are committed to developing and implementing programs to assist each child, through personal goals and high expectations, to experience academic success.
